A1: Having heard back from the manufacturer I can confirm that there is no technical reason why you can't however it may void the warranty. It would be something they would decide at the time if it was needed
Q2: Can you please tell me if it's possible to shorten the supporting wires on this light?
A2: Yes, at the point of installation you can adjust the drop

Townshend six bar pendant, black & wood finished.
This bar pendant is produced with a steel-made ceiling plate, which has two thin cables suspending downwards that hold a rectangular-shaped wooden bar, this has six black cables looping around that have bulb holders on the end.
Requires 6 x LED ES E27 bulbs, which are not included with the fitting.
This pendant can be height adjusted at the time of installation.
The bulb holders can be adjusted at different heights to suit your requirements.
This is part of the Townshend Range.
