Dining Room Lights

Dining Room and Over Dining Table Lights

The centrepiece of most dining rooms is the dining table, and therefore general lighting in the room should be focused around this area. Any over dining table lighting helps to set the mood, creating a bright and welcoming look.

Pendant lights provide a stylish and affordable over table lighting solution, with an adjustable height. These however, would not be practical for rooms with low ceilings as they could cause an obstruction if hung too low. Placing several in a row above the table can bring extra light and style.

Lighting For Dining Rooms and Over Dining Tables

Rise and Fall ceiling pendant lights have a graceful drop and downward, focused light. They are perfect for creating intimate dining areas, with the benefit of changing the height as often as you like to create different mood lighting.

Flush and Semi-Flush fittings are a perfect choice for ceiling dining lights, as they sit very close to or 'cling' to the ceiling. Available in a wide range of colours and designs, you're sure to find the perfect design to match your décor.

Other dining room light fixtures include wall lights that can contribute to the atmosphere, especially when placed to illuminate plants and the room more evenly. If you have a larger dining room, a floor lamp can be used to light up a darker corner while a table lamp on a sideboard can add to the ambience created. All these types of light give the option of a more gentle illumination, to create a particular mood or to simply relax with as it gets later into the evening.

Warm white light (2700k to 3000k) is the preferred colour temperature choice for dining room lights. It's yellowy warm glow creates a cosy atmosphere and can even enhance the visual appeal of your food. The amount of dining area light fixtures you choose to have in the room and the lumens produced by the LED bulbs will affect the overall brightness level. For example, if you were using a multi arm light with multiple LED bulbs, the brightness of each bulb you choose should be lower than if you had one light with just a single bulb.
