can it be mounted vertically?
A1: No, sorry, due to heat dissipation you must only mount this horizontally

Q2: Does the base have to be sunk into the wall, So that the chrome face plate is flush with the wall tile.

where is the shaver plug located?
A2: No, as the shaver socket is located behind the chrome face on the right handside. This is a surface mounted light
